My task in designing this web site was to create a flexible design, which provides a simple, sustainable and scalable content management system in a secure environment, whilst ensuring SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and the W3C Standards of Accessibility and Usability were not compromised.
By optimising the strengths of different client and server side programming languages and their implementation I wanted to create a unique user experience, compatible with all of the most commonly used browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera). I wanted the interface to engage the user whilst ensuring that the primary content (the artwork) was not overpowered by the site design.
Interface design and marketing through SEO were key elements in the architecture of the design. Available server technologies including server-side scripts and the Apache Mod_Rewrite module have been utilised to ensure any previous “link equity” was not lost, whilst maintaining user-friendly URLs. By using user-friendly URLs and ensuring keyword-rich queries were used in conjunction with the dynamic elements of the site I hope to achieve not only good SERP (Search Engine Result Page) listings but also provide more natural and more memorable URLs for the user.
